We are the official tour operator for Bike Tours for The Wounded (BT4TW). Through us, they provide the opportunity for Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) Service Personnel and Veterans a chance to experience a life changing motorcycling challenge as a pillion. To make this possible, we are looking for experienced riders with enough time and affordability to join each tour offering their rear seat to one of these brave servicemen or servicewomen.
Welcome to our day of preparation for the exciting Route 66 Motorcycle Tour. This once in a lifetime journey, with it’s unique riding experience, along the most famous two-lane highway in America, could change your life for the better.
Your opportunity to visit with new friends, the experience of a legendary road featured in many iconic films and television shows like the one highlighted by Billy Connolly recently.
The sights and sounds of a history long forgotten by the modern age, along with the vastly diverse scenery of a landscape most have never seen, will remind us of days gone by.
Approximate mileage: 238 miles
The first day of our challenge takes us via Boulder City with a stop for breakfast at the world famous “Coffee Cup” restaurant. We then head south though Search Light for an interesting outer space encounter in the town of Baker.
Continuing South West we travel to the historic town of Barstow Where we join the original Route 66 which takes us to Victorville and the fantastic Route 66 museum. You will get to experience the true history of this historic road.
Today’s ride takes us though the town of Rightwood located in a pine covered valley in the San Gabriel Mountains. We then snake our way over the Angeles Mountains for 67 miles of riding heaven until we reach La Cañada Flintridge in California for a spot of lunch.
We then head back along this amazing route in to opposite direction back to the hotel in Victorville for a well-earned rest.
We have a stunning days ride ahead of us as we first travel to the Spanish mission of San Juan Capistrano. We then ride towards the town of Alpine via the Ortega Highway which is a beautiful mountain road that drops down to Lake Elsinore. After a break at the lake for lunch we head off to our hotel for the night at Alpine.
We will have a day of snaking through the mountain passes until we reach the town of Mecca we will then ride past the Salton sea towards the start of the San Andreas Fault line which is the most famous fault in the world. Its notoriety comes partly from the disastrous 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
As we ride though a baron wilderness misshapen by earthquakes and flash floods until we reach the city of Blythe which is located near the California/Arizona border in the Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert.
Today’s ride is not for the faint hearted…. As we leave California, we head into Arizona where we will feel the temperatures rise as we ride north of Phoenix and Scottsdale to Fountain Hills where we take a well-deserved break for lunch.
The afternoon is packed full of some of the most spectacular views as we climb and descend some breath taking mountain ranges. It is not uncommon to have eagles souring above us as we ride. We will take a stop to allow you to have your photo taken alongside huge cacti at the side of the road. Our day will end with views of snow covered mountains and forests.
We have a surprise in store for you as the group heads north for a ride through the Salt River Canyon where you will be astounded by its natural beauty.
You will experience a number of iconic Route 66 sights and landmarks in the afternoon as we take time to enjoy the beauty of the landscape. We then head off to see the wigwam motel for an evening with a difference.
An early start takes us to the town of Winslow for a great photo opportunity and chance to pick up some Route 66 souvenirs. From there we head off to Flagstaff for a light lunch.
After lunch we enjoy a ride down through Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona and Jerome National Park, we then ride north again to the most iconic of Route 66 towns called Williams for an evening of entertainment and food.
This morning we head west to the historic ghost town of Seligman where we will ride along old Route 66 for an early lunch at a classic old Route 66 Diner in Kingman.

This was an amazing trip to be a part of. I came along as a partner to a veteran and was in the support vehicle - although I did enjoy a couple of trips on a bike which was awesome! It was a real privielge to be a part of this trip, filled with incredible sights, wonderful people, good food and company along the way. I would highly recommend this adventure. It is uplifting for the soul and the work these guys do to ensure the trip is special is truly amazing!
This being the second tour with BC & BT4TW, I can still say that they deliver an excellent experience. It cannot be easy organising and running these tours with such a varied range of individuals but they do it very well.
We all met at the airport and got to know each other just a little whilst travelling to Las Vegas. Over the 10 days, tremendous bonds were formed within the group and the teamwork played a significant part in making this tour something to enjoy. Watching individuals learn to trust each other, let go and just enjoy the experiences was very gratifying. The roads and riding were a pleasure to experience and scenery was amazing.
Having everything organised for you helped you relax and just enjoy the experience. The American veterans also spoilt us with food, drink and entertainment.
A trip not to miss if you do get the opportunity.
